SCA Technica, Inc., an 8(a), Veteran-owned SDB, is a Research and Development company specialized in developing software defined radio (SDR) products, reference designs and intellectual property. Although our main focus is on commercial and consumer products, our company is also a prime contractor for US Government projects to develop high assurance, plug-and-play SDR mobile terminals.
CEO and Founder: David K Murotake, Ph.D. led researchers from nine companies and universities conducting basic and advanced research in telecommunications and wireless technologies and is the owner and founder of SCA Technica.
Dr. Murotake is an experienced defense systems analyst and architect. He has developed requirements, system specifications, operational concept documents, interface control documents, and system-of-system designs for numerous military data links and C4ISR systems
Dr. Murotake received his Ph.D. from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Management of Technological Innovation, with concentration in Information Technology. He also received the Master’s and Bachelors Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Science from MIT. He served five years active duty in the US Army as a Combat Engineer Officer, Tactical Intelligence Officer, and Electronic Warfare Officer. He is a native US citizen and has applied for three US patents.
CTO: Jeff Smith, Ph.D Dr. Smith, fill has had a 30 year track record in the acquisition, management, research and development of Advanced Development/Technology Programs. As VP of Engineering in Dr. Smith’s last commercial telecommunications effort for IDTS, Dr. Smith led the development of an Operational Support System for a wireless backhaul, as well as IT, Testing and Process groups. Previous to IDTS, Dr. Smith led a team at Mercury Computer to develop programs to establish Software Radio as a key Mercury business area. Dr. Smith has maintained worked with various consulting applications relating to telecommunications and software defined radio. Prior to Mercury, Dr. Smith led an Advanced Technology group at Sanders, winning and performing on several DARPA contracts. Dr. Smith is one of 3 co-chairs of the OMG Software-Based Communications Task Force.
Dr. Jeff Smith received his PhD from Northeastern University in Computer Systems Engineering, MS in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University, MS in Computer Science from East Texas State University and BS in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
